Welcome

This website provides a comprehensive resource for healthcare professionals with an interest in upper GI disorders, including GORD and dyspepsia. These conditions continue to be under the spotlight following the NHS guidelines for the management of dyspepsia in adults, published by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (August 2004).

Healthcare professionals who are involved in the management of dyspepsia need to be aware of the recommendations made in these guidelines and the implications for managing their patients. For example, symptomatic management of uninvestigated dyspepsia, a reduction in the number of endoscopies, PRN treatment, and a higher profile for self care and OTC treatments, are all outcomes of these guidelines.

The website includes detailed information about this therapeutic area, including sections focusing on the structure and function of the GI Tract, GI disorders, diagnosis, disease management, and aspects of areas for implementing NICE Dyspepsia guideline, in addition to research and resources information.
